The kind of weekend that I like
Negative things I do whenever I experience a bad
situation are panicking easily, I think about problems too much, then let my good
regular activities neglected. For example: I stayed up very late last week, had
late meal time, and didn’t exercise. Grrrr……….. All of those gave me flu and
coughing as result. This, of course, is bad for my health.
In spite of troubled mind and bad feeling I had the past
week, I must say this weekend is one of my productive weekend, which I like.
Had a massage for flu relief on Thursday. Then went to Computer
Festival at Jakarta Hilton Convention Center. Bought a new laptop, after
considering it for two weeks and comparing brands, prices, and specs. At first
I wanted to get Dell XPS: it has red color, 13.3” screen, and not heavy (1.9
kg). Of course, other technical specifications is taken into consideration.
Price is $1,199.
Then there was Acer Aspire 2920: basic color, 12.1”, light
weight, specification is OK, price is $899.
Another one I found at the festival was NEC S-3300. Based
from the flyer I got two weeks ago, NEC range is expensive, but this time the
sales person showed me the one with similar specification I was looking for and
at my budget. It costs $959 and in brownish red color.
Guess what I picked? Acer……
The laptop will help me to work faster on my internet
marketing project.
Next issue: getting a fast internet connection. Next to
computer festival venue, there was cellular exhibition. The mobile phone
operators offered fast internet connection using USB modem or HSDPA cell phone.
Once again, I had to choose carefully as I’m on “money saving” mode, lol.
There were XL, Indosat M2, Telkomsel Flash, even Fren
(CDMA operator).
The GSM operators offered bundle package where it cost
between IDR 1.5-2 million. Fren offered USB modem at a very low price, more
than half of GSM USB modem. I had been using Fren for my personal internet
connection and it was better than Esia or Wifone.
On Friday night, I reviewed their brochures at home. Then
I found out that with Telkomsel Flash, I can connect using GPRS cell phone. Hey………my
Sony Ericsson W800i is a GPRS cell phone! I called Telkomsel customer service
and asked how I can activate the service.
It was so easy! I installed SE PC Suite software on my
laptop, activated the service through my cell, connected cell phone to my
laptop, opened the software, got internet connection, then chose time based
package. I chose 3 hour package, costed IDR 30,000, will be billed to my
monthly invoice. The connection was fast! I will go to Telkomsel Grapari next
week to activate unlimited package at a low price. This is cool!
I didn’t sleep that night because I was too excited
testing the connection and working on my new site.
On Saturday, I attended my Asian Brain workshop. I met new
friends offline. I met people I usually chat online, I met the seniors and
experts in the community.
This time, we learned about WordPress blog and
Pay-Per-Lead marketing strategy. I had the chance to discuss my problems with
them. Oh my….. I can proceed with my pending works. Alhamdulillah!
On my way home, I asked my taxi driver to pass Jl.
Senopati, where The Harvest (cake shop) located. Bought some nice cakes, and will
give some to my sister. Yummy………..
This morning, I had a long sleep, as a payoff of my lack
of resting. I was feeling fresh. It was raining, so I didn’t go to my sister’s
house, which was a good thing because I can just stay home and working on my
project plan.
At 2 PM, I went to the gym. I can’t forget about this. My
body needs exercise and I need to get sweaty. No snacks and no window shopping
after that. Went straight to home, and start working again.
